Deanery Pray-ers and Prayer Chain

Prayer is at the heart of our relationship with God, and any church which does not take prayer seriously is not going anywhere.  We have had a dedicated prayer chain, which is a group of people who exercise a ministry of intercession (praying for others), for many years.  They are also linked into the Deanery and Diocesan pray-ers who pray for the wider church as well.

Our prayer chain is there to pray for all of us and particularly for those who are in special need of a touch from God; those who in this transitory life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity, as it says in the Book of Common Prayer.

If you find yourself needing prayer please contact Marion Bennett (01474709564) or leave a short note in the prayer requests box which will be placed at the back of the church.

Opportunities for Training

We have two amazing opportunities for training coming available in the Deanery soon.  The items below give the basic idea of each course.  There are detailed brochures available at the back of the church for anyone who is interested in more information or in signing up for one or both of the courses.

Both courses are free for members of Gravesend Deanery

Leading for Growth

Leading for Growth is a course run by St Mary Greenhithe, aimed at supporting full time and voluntary leaders by providing dynamic leadership teaching from some of today’s great leaders.

Every two months, they will show a talk, on DVD, from an international leader.  These talks are taken from the Global Leadership Summit held at Willow Creek, Chicago and shown at WCA UK Leadership Summits.

Afterwards, there will be refreshments and an opportunity to talk about what you have heard and problems you may face.

There are two sessions for each talk and they are on a Saturday at 7:00pm or on Tuesday at 8 pm.  The next talk takes place on 10 and 13 March and is entitled Making Visions Stick by Andy Stanley, Senior Pastor at North Point Community Church, Alpharetta, Georgia, USA

Gossip the Good News

Gossip the Good News is a five session course designed to help ordinary church members to feel comfortable talking about the good news of Jesus to people who are not yet active worshippers.

The stated aims are :

  • To help church members to be confident that we have good news worth sharing
  • To know how to put this into ordinary everyday language

The next course starts at 7:30 pm on Wednesday 18th April 2012 at St. Peter & St. Paul, Milton.

There is also a Gossip the Good News Course at St Mary Longfield starting on 1 March for five weeks (This clashes with our Lent course)
